Bible Code / Revelations / Gospel of Judas

Hi everyone, if you know me then you will know that I really like history and news so here are some things I just want to toss out there. I was watching the history channel over Easter Break and was watching two shows, one I had saw part of before. The first was on the bible code. Put directly into a computer in the same rows and organization as the bible (the original scroll type) there are anomalies that astound researchers. Like a crossword puzzle they have found groups of words within a small area that tie into history, anomalies have been found for things as recent as the War in Iraq and the Twin Towers, to such things as the 1906 earthquake in San Fracisco and many earlier others. Other things predict the end of the world but they are vague and not as precise as the others. THe other show was on the book of Revelations, or as they called it, the Revelations of St. John of ???(some fancy name that was short for where Turkey is today where he wrote to seven different churches since this was the point when the current Roman Emperor demanded he be worshipped and kicked all hte Christians out of the very large Roman Empire.) Apparently he had many visions from the Lord who commanded him to write these visions down. Now to the point... They said that some people believe that in order for the book of Revelations and its tragedy and paradise to begin the Jewish people will build the Temple again on the Mount. But this area is currently occupied by one of the holiest places in the Religion of Islam so this will probably occur when the AntiChrist comes to Power. Does this have any valdity? The rest of the show went on to talk about how the human race has set ourselves up with Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect that is slowly melting the Polar Icecaps and releasing cold water into the environmentally important Gulf Stream, and other potential disasters. I haven't read the entire thing yet but in my National Geographic there is an article on the Gospel of Judas an ancient text supposedly created by the Gnostics, or Judas' follower has finally been uncovered in the 20th century and after going through the hands of many antiquities traders it is finally in the historical community and is being translated from Coptic, Eygptian written in Greek. THe Early church had declared this document heresy and made it off limits so it is a miracle that this copy survived. According to the article in this "Gospel" he depicts himself as a Hero, and that Jesus asked him to do this and he followed regardless of the warnings. IT directly opposes that of the four original Gospels. Apparently there are many books that were turned away when it came to making the Bible. Some of these were The Gospel Of Thomas, The Gospel Of Mary, The Gospel of Truth, Secret Book of John, Second Discourse of Great Seth, and many unknown others. Here are some scanned images: If you would like to see the article I going to bring it to church next week. ~TS Greg~

New Worship Team

As most of the youth know already, Water's Edge has kind of outgrown itself. Praise God for pouring out on us talent, ability, and willingness. He's obviously working in a powerful way since there's such a surge of youth who want to be a part of it. We're even starting add some horns (thanks Nick Kessler) to the group, maybe doing some ska or even just adding a new layer to some of the songs. Anyone who wants to be involved is welcome, even if you don't play an instrument. There's so much else to do, from slides and sound to setup and even announcements during the services. Please see Dave Latorre or I for more info and how to sign up. Also, we're looking and praying for the name of the second group, who would primarily be playing on Sunday nights at Y2Praise. Any suggestions?

Awesome Job by our Youth at Brookside Terrace

I just returned from Thursday's service at Brookside Terrace. The Water's Edge did a fabulous job of leading workship. A number of other youth and the youth ministy leadership were there to support this outreach and participate in the worship and prayer as well. I am proud of our youth, their musical talent, their willingness to reach out to the community, and, most of all, their maturity in the spirit and a willingness to serve God. Very impressive! Kudos to our youth and their leaders. God is up to something. P.S. I know of at least one Brookside resident that accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior during the service! Wow!
