You can even attend our church in Second Life. Second Life is an on-line virtual world with over 8 million citizens. Second Life offers an incredibly diverse, creative and compelling environment for education, communication, collaboration, art, music, etc. For example, when I visit with my son in Second Life, and we take a tour of the NASA space center together, the experience is "way more than a phone call". Second Life also has its share of adult content and immorality. A couple of churches have established "virtual chruches" and ministries in this new on-line world. We are one of them.

Church LIVE in Second Life
Watch the First Presbyterian Church Service LIVE in Second Life. Select "Live Church"; from the Media Menu.
Visit Serene Harmony (171, 172, 26) - Note: You will need to load the Second Life client software to use this link. It is available free at www.secondlife.com. You must be at least 18 yrs old to become a citizen of Second Life

Test Your System: Play this video to test your systems readiness. When we are not broadcasting you should see and hear a short introduction and invitation to tune back in on Sunday mornings. If it does not play properly, or you don't see a play button, try the following:

  • Click once anywhere in the playback window above - Internet Explorer may need you to do this to activate the controls. Then click the play button in the bottom left corner of the playback window.
  • If that does not work, refresh the page and try it again. To refresh the page, right clcik anywhere and choose "Refresh" or "Reload".
  • Still have problems, then try updating your Quicktime player. You can load the latest version of Quicktime on your computer, get it free from apple.
  • Another idea is to try using the alternate "launch live stream in its own window" link to the left.
  • You can also try using the "Receive the Audio Only Stream" link to the left. The audio stream will work even with a dial-up connection to the internet or on older, slow computers.
  • If you still have problems, it is possible that your computer security systems or firewall may block the broadcast. Try turning off anti-virus and anti-spyware and firewall programs. The stream uses port 7070 which will have to be open on your router/firewall. It usually is except in some corporate environments.
  • Or you can request help via email here or Chat the WebServant during services.

One last note to the adventurous. Most all things on the web look and work better if you use the FireFox Browser instead of Internet Explorer. This website is no exception. FireFox is free at www.firefox.com.
