It works this way:
Pray for one of the folks listed below, then dial the number, follow the prompts, and then dial PIN number followed by the # symbol. It's as simple as that. The person will be "beeped" letting him or her know that someone has just prayed.

TESTIMONIES:

We asked our "pager pals", those on the receiving ends of our prayer pagers, if they have any words to offer to the prayer vine for remembering them in prayer daily. Here are some of the responses:

To everyone at the First Presbyterian Church in Sparta, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who prayed for my husband Joe for a whole year now. We found out last year that Joe had cancer in his throat and neck which was not operable. He had to have aggressive radiation and chemotherapy. He was not doing very well at all. Our very best friends in the world(Julie and Ken S.) gave Joe a wonderful gift. The Prayer beeper.......It was the best thing anyone could have given him, every time that buzzer went off Joe knew a prayer was being said for him, and believe me it went off a lot. People were even praying for him at 4AM....I couldn't believe it, it was wonderful. After months of treatments and recovering from the treatments, he is cancer free and the feeding tube that was put in a year ago finally came out last week.(Yeah!!!!!). So again, on behalf of Joe and our whole family THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!THANK YOU!!! The power of prayer is an amazing thing. Praise for the healing in Joe's life, and for your prayers on his behalf. Prayers of thanks for your faithfulness, for Joe and Barbara's faithfulness, for the skill of the physicians treating him, for the power of Jesus healing him! Please remember to pray for this family, for good health and God's blessings in ALL things! And then this e-mail came from then as well:

Kristins Cat scan was "CLEAR" Yahoooooo!!!!! Praise God, we are so grateful for all the prayers and buzzing.  THANKS so much.   The second best Christmas present ever (of course Jesus was the first) Thanks Thanks Thanks, for everyone's support and prayers.  We pray that each Cat scan from here is clear and the Cancer is truly gone.  Don't forget you can check the www.caringbridge.org website directory "nj" and name "kristine."  (don't forget that period at the end, and all lowercase)

ps. we would like to pass the buzzer on to who ever may be needing it at this time, we are so grateful and blessed to have had it all this time, and it was very uplifting, to say the least.  Some days we would forget about it and it seemed our day couldn't get any worse, and we would hear that "reminding" buzz and our day seemed a whole lot brighter because of it! Thanks so much we were honored to have had been part of this ministry, and we got a chance to witness to so many people who were curious why we were "constantly" buzzing!!!! Praise and thanks to God and all his

Kristin & Tina E

Once you have a beeper, it's impossible to describe the sense of love and protection you have-- that God's Love is real and that Love is demonstrated through all those anonymous prayers and "buzzes" . The other thing that both Connie and I each experienced was that it enboldened us to share--to reach out and share just what this pager was, and that God's Love was real. Now it's time to pass it on--I've 'recouped' to the point that someone else needs to feel this Love. The 118th Psalm became very real to each Connie and me--"His Love Endures Forever"! Keith

What has the prayer buzzer meant to me and my family?  I think the primary things are that it reminds me that I am not alone, I am loved, and that others are petitioning God on my behalf.  So often when things are going wrong, we tend to feel like we are alone and that no one can relate to our crisis.  The buzzer does not allow me to continue thinking that way.  It is a CONSTANT reminder that, although not everyone can relate to every circumstance, I am not alone.  More importantly, I have learned the tremendous power of prayer.  Over the past few years, I have given up the phrase, "all we can do is pray."  Our family has been the recipient of true miracles, and I believe in them and I believe that prayer is the only thing that can change outcomes.  Prayer works and is so powerful.  While in our current circumstance it is true that all others can do is pray, that is what we are totally relying on.  Prayer. Thank yoy, all, for your prayers.  they are so appreciated!much love. M.G.

As a long-time “beeper buddy”, I’m happy to share the following: My “beeper”  is a continuing reminder of Paul’s charge to the Thessalonians “to pray without ceasing,” and of the power of prayer. Morning, noon or night, a smile comes to my face and a “thank you, friend” to my lips when my “beeper” tells me that another believer is holding me up to the Lord in prayer. It has been nearly a year since my condition was diagnosed, and today my life is as full and rewarding as I could hope for. I am CONVINCED that the unceasing prayers of friends and even total strangers have made it so, and for that I thank God and everyone who continues to pray for me.  Bruce

PRAYER PAGER MINISTRY

Prayer pagers are a way that concerned people can let someone in need know that they are praying for them. When the individual dials the phone number a message will tell them what number to enter to send the “prayer message.” The person with the pager will then receive a page, letting them know that someone is praying for them at that time.

How can your church or organization implement the Prayer Pager Ministry?

It is actually very simple!

  1. Set up an account with a local pager company.
  2. Decide how many pagers you want to have and lease or purchase the units.

Some of these pagers should be local, some state-wide, perhaps even nation-wide, depending on where the pager recipient is going for treatment. (Each pager will, of course, be assigned a different number.)

  1. A personalized message will instruct the caller to press the numbers necessary to send the message to the recipient, i.e. “This is the prayer pager for John Smith. Please enter 733 to send the message that you are praying fro him.”
  2. A Prayer Pager Committee member delivers the pagers and periodically checks on the individuals who have them.
  3. The recipient determines when they are ready to return the pager and a committee members will pick it up. It is then available for distribution to someone else.
  4. The recipient names and pager numbers are printed in the church newsletter, worship bulletin, and prayer vine information on the web site.
We hope that this will help you start a Prayer Pager Ministry in your church!
